Cockroaches

Scavengers of the world, they eat almost anything, some of the 3000 species are pests capable of spreading diseases that can affect you and your family. Successful management begins with a thorough inspection to identify the species and determine the extent of the infestation.
German Cockroaches
20-25mm long and honey-coloured females commonly seen carrying an egg case, males are smaller and darker in appearance. Commonly found in warm areas of the kitchen and bathroom.
Large Cockroaches
American Cockroach, Smoky Brown Cockroach, adults to 55mm prefer moist areas like drains, subfloors and roof void areas may be found entering kitchen cupboards through pipe entries and commonly found running around floor edges at night.

Spiders

Apart from several types of native Australian spiders whose bites are often dangerous and occasionally life threatening, most are relatively harmless. However, they sometimes bite humans that they see as threatening them in their habitat

Some species regularly encountered in the Northern Rivers region are the red back Spider, St Andrews Cross Spider, White Tailed Spider, Huntsman Spider, Garden and Golden Orb Weavers, Black House Spider, Cupboard Spider, Daddy Long Legs, Wolf spider and the Tree Dwelling Funnel-web spider

Ants

Ants have Kings, Queens and immature stages back at the nest; the ones you usually find around your kitchen and garden are usually workers and soldiers. Some have painful stings, and others can undermine your pavers and make a complete mess of your lawn. They can also short circuit electrical appliances and transfer viral, fungal and bacterial plant diseases around your garden

Fleas and Ticks

The black or bubonic plague is a disease that was transmitted by fleas from biting humans after they had bitten rats, they can also transmit murine typhus and can cause a wide variety of problems ranging from itching to allergic reactions and the spread of tapeworms. Successful management depends on many factors including knowledge of flea biology and habits, skilled inspection techniques, informed pesticide selection and careful application methods.

Rodents

The three main pest species are the Norway Rat, the Roof Rat and the House Mouse. Rodents actively forage for food at night using the same routes to and from their food sources and contaminate more food than they eat and in doing so many diseases are transmitted as they deposit droppings and droplets of urine on all surfaces that they travel along. Rodents are equipped with incisors that continually grow and its essential that they frequently gnaw on things to keep their length down this can result in damage to property and even fire.
